Idril ran to the ranger outpost. She ran up through the stairs, and stood on top of the building on a platform. She pulled out her bow, and stood ready to shoot. She saw someone running below the tower, and she could sense evil in him. "Orc!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. She pulled out her bow, closed one eye, and took aim.

Idril shot down the orcs, one by one. Suddenly, she heard something climbing up the stairs. She figured that it was one of the other rangers, so she continued shooting. She then felt something sneak up behind her, and slit her neck. She screamed in pain, then turned around and killed it. "Damned orcs," she muttered, covering the cut in her neck.

"GET BACK!" shouted elbereth at idril "I'll cover us!"
He threw down his bow, drew his sword and charged into the group of orcs coming up the steps.
"come on! Kill them!" he knew it was doomed and that his small garison would be overthrown in minuts, but still he fought. Slowly he was driven back to the mouth of the cave where achers continued fireing. The man next to him fell an arrow protruding from his neck. Anther man fell his stomach cleaved open by an orc sword. He hacked at another orc , then twisted and stabed another through the back, it's sword raised over it's head in mid strike fell in mid attack. He pulled away and started backing back farther into the outpost accoumpanied by his reamaning men.

Idril nodded, and began attacking the orcs. "They are going to invade! Keep fighting!" She saw an army of orcs heading into the entrance. "Stay here, I'll be back," she said. She climbed down the stairs, killing orcs as she went, and started killing the orcs coming to the entrance.

Elbereth did not heed her words and raced into the fright anway. I we are going to die them I'm going to die fighting! Sudenly the sound of trumpet blasts camefro outside. None of them were orc horns but Gondorian!
King Eldarion sat upon his horse infront of his host of soldiers overlooking the ranger outpost. Bodies of men and orcs lay strew with blood runing down their faces and arrows protruding from them at all angles. The trumpets blasted again and the orcs stopped and turned to face the new opposers. Before they could do anything the archers fired. the first rank of orcs crumpled and fell. Before the orcs could raise their sheilds another volley flew into their ranks. The next volley was completly defleted by the raised sheilds, making a baricade. Then the King and his knights that has been circleing the orcs flank chared into their eastern side.and closecombat ensued, the war hores trampled all that stood in their path. While the battle raged the swordsmen circled to the western flank and charged into the fray. attacked from both sides the orcs were left in confusion. All those whoo tried to flee were quickly brought down by a hail of arrows from the archers. Within minuts the orcs were routed and not one was left alive.
Elbereth stabed the last orc through the heart. The battle had been won thanks to the timely arrival of the king. but not without losses, only ten of the original one hundred soldiers and rangers that had maned this post had survived the attack. He to had not escaped unscathed. He had a long wound that traced its way down his sword arm. Held started bandaging it waith a scrap of cloth -he found next to an overtuned table- as he walked over to Idril.
"are you okay?"

Elbereth continued to shoot arrows, and one went into her arm. It was not going very fast, but it still left a wound in her arm. Despite the pain, she pulled the arrow out of her arm and continued to fight orcs. As soon as they were all dead, she ran back into the outpost and pulled up her sleeve, which was covered in blood. She had a deep wound in her arm. "Yes, Elbereth...I am fine," she said calmly. She looked around and saw a bandage. "This should do for now...I'll just wait for the bleeding to slow down before I put it on."
She looked at Elbereth, and saw the piece of cloth wrapped around his arm. She could see a line of blood seeping through it. "That piece of cloth will never hold back the blood," she said. She grabbed the bandage that she found. He needs it more than I do, she thought. She pulled his arm out, removed the piece of cloth, and put on the bandage. "There you are."

"thanks. There should be more bandages in the another room." Just then King Eldarionmarched in accompanied by his guard.
"good we wern't to late." said the king. Sudenly he saw how many men had survived. "obviously we were not to early either." he said with a somber expresion. "I am sorry we took so long. The message didn'tget to my ears untill an hour ago."
"I am glad you got here all the same." said Elbereth sadly as he picked up his bow. So many dead. "I'm glad you got here all the same."

Idril looked down. There were bodies on the floor...Her old friends, cold and lifeless. She kneeled down, and held a dead ranger's hand. "You were so young," she said, quietly. She then waved her fist into the air. "Those damned orcs!" She stopped, knowing that her temper was out of control. She looked at king Eldaron and bowed. "I appologize...I lost my temper. I am glad that you are still alive."

"how did the orcs find this place?! It was so well hidden! The only way they could have is if we have a traitor in our midst. But how can we find it? Godor is huge and it could be anyone! But we should not trouble over it here, we need to return to minas tirith at once."
He turned to a guard. "withdrawl at rangers in ithilian to Osgiliath! And have five archer battalions and five swordsmen battalions snt from the city to enfore it further. And hurry!"
He turnd back to the surviving rangers. "You shall return to the citywhen you have recoverd, go to Osgiliath. Elbereth, I will leave you incharge of the defences there. Idril, you are second in command to him. Good luck." The King strode from the room leaving Elbereth, Idril, and the other rangers/
"COme on you heard him." said Elbereth "get back to the city and prepare to go to Osgiliath!"

Idril quickly picked up a bandage and wrapped it around her arm. "I am ready, Elbereth," she said. She ran outside and hopped onto her horse. She turned back to Elbereth. "To Osgiliath!" She yelled. She turned around, kicked her horse's side, and went on her way to Osgiliath.

Elbereth took one last sad look at the rangers outpost then followed her.
